Occupational Therapy for Schools
Occupational therapists (OTs) are instrumental in working with schools and helping students get the best support for their unique needs while supporting teachers' needs.
OTs work closely with teachers and other school staff to determine students' needs and develop plans to help them. They teach school staff how to support students with fine motor skills, emotional regulation, social skills, sensory integration, and cognitive skills.
OTs adjust the classroom environment to make it easier for students to learn and grow.
OTs also work directly with students, providing therapy services at school and providing screener assessments for students.
Additionally, OTs are vital in advocating for students and families in the school system and helping them get the right services and resources.
OTs are crucial in ensuring students get the care and support they need to succeed in school and life. While also supporting teachers and the learning environment of the school.
